The subject of this sketch, son of Mr. and Mrs. David Lighty, was born in Elk township, Clayton county, Iowa, November 18th, 1875, and departed this life at his home in Kesley, Iowa, on November 19th, 1907, aged 32 years and 1 day, after a four weeks struggle with typhoid fever.
In his youth he attended the public schools and later attended the Seminary at Fayette. He afterward graduated in pharmacy at Highland Park College at Des Moines and practiced this profession at Parkersburg and Kesley, Iowa, until his death.
On the 26th day of March, 1902, he was united in marriage to Miss Lucy M. Fleming. To this union were born two children, Stanley and Evelin. He also leaves a father and mother, five brothers and one sister, who with the devoted wife, mourn his death.
The funeral was held at the Asbury church Sunday afternoon, November 24th, conducted by Rev. Hoskyn assisted by Rev. O.C. DePuy. Members of the Masonic lodge of Greeley, of which organization he was a member, were present and also took part in the services. There were a large number of friends present at the funeral to show the love and high regards for him who had been called from this world in the bloom of manhood.
