Waterloo Daily Courier, Tues., 3 July 1951.

Strawberry Point- Jess Jessen, 71; Sunday morning at his home after a long illness; born Aug. 14, 1879, at Forestville, son of John and Agnes Marquardt Jessen; on Oct. 21, 1909, he married Dorothy Alderson at Strawberry Point; member of the Methodist church and of the Modern Woodmen lodge; operated a grocery store here until he retired; leaves four children, Mrs. Peter Wilhelm, Mrs. Edward White, John W., and Robert D., all of Strawberry Point; a sister, Mrs. Agnes Johannes, Miami, Fla.; a brother, Fred Jessen, Manchester, and 11 grandchildren; preceded in death by his wife in 1923; one sister and one brother; funeral was Tuesday.
