Strawberry Point- Charley M. Thein, 57, died at 5 a.m. Wednesday morning, at University hospitals in Iowa City following a brief illness; born Jan. 13, 1894, near Elkport, Ia., he was the son of Joseph L. and Minnie Janard Thein; married Rosie Moser on Nov. 8, 1916, at Manchester, Ia., and they lived near Strawberry Point on a farm most of their married life; member of the Methodist church; preceded in death by two sons and one daughter; surviving are his wife, Rosie Thein, one daughter, Mrs. Bernadine Squires, of Stanley; two sons, Lavern Thein and Earl Floyd Thein, both of Strawberry Point; four brothers, Frank of Fredericksburg, Joe and Fred of Garber, and Peter of Elkader; three sisters, Mrs. Rebecca Winch and Mrs. Mary Jennings, both of Garber, and Mrs. Ted Smock, Edgewood; also three granddaughters and one grandson; funeral services will be Friday, July 27, at 1:30 at the residence and 2 p.m. at the Methodist church in Strawberry Point; burial in Strawberry Point cemetery.
