Funeral services were held on Thursday afternoon for Mrs. Wm. Miene of Luana, who passed away at Postville Hospital on December 31 following a period of 11 weeks illness.

The services were conducted from the Schutte Funeral Home at 1:30 to St. Paul's Lutheran Church at 2:00 o'clock with Rev. Frederick R. Ludwig in charge. Burial was in Postville Cemetery.

Emma Agnes Konow Miene, daughter of Frederick Konow and Anna Mueller Konow, was born May 28, 1897 at Hamburg, Germany, and departed this life on December 31, at Postville, aged 53 years.

Mrs. Miene was on March 26, 1912, received into active membership in the Lutheran Church.

At the age of 24, Mrs. Miene left her native Germany for America and settled in this community. Here in this community she spent the remainder of her life.

Mrs. Miene was united in marriage with William Miene of Luana on March 5, 1924. To this union five children were born, three of whom survive the passing of their mother.

Left to mourn her passing are her husband; three children: Ruby, Mrs. Leroy Foels, and Elfreda and William, junior, both of the latter at home, all of this community; one grandchild; as well as other relatives and friends.

Mrs. Miene was preceded in death by her parents; two infant daughters, and one brother.
