Strawberry Point, Ia., Dec 6 - Mrs. Gertrude Rawson died suddenly here Friday afternoon. A daughter, Miss Tayma, who teaches school at Sterling, Ill., arrived here Saturday.

Strawberry Point, Ia., Dec. 10 - Funeral services for Mrs. Gertrude Rawson were held at the home Monday afternoon conducted by Rev. Trolyer, pastor of the Congregational church, and Rev. Smith of Hazelton, formerly M.E. pastor here. The O.E.S. had charge of the services at the cemetery. It was one of the largest funerals ever held in Strawberry Point.
The pallbearers were: J.M. Quinn, John Tracy, B.R. Cole, Eugene Fitzgibbons, M.F. Harwood and Charles Newberry.
Mrs. Rawson, nee Gertrude E. Gilchrist, oldest daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Tyler Gilchrist, was born on a farm west of town May 4, 1870. She was the second primary teacher in the Strawberry Point public school. She was married to Dr. Edward C. Rawson in 1892.
Dr. Rawson died Nov. 27, 1927. Surviving are her daughter Rayma, a sister, Mrs. Mabel Treadwell of Chicago, and two brothers, Daniel M. of Gobleville, Mich., and Malcolm M. of this place.
Mrs. Rawson composed many poems and painted pictures. She was one of the charter members of the Fortnightly club, D.A.R., P.E.O., O.E.S. and of the Thimble society of the Congregational church.
