Elkader- John H. Stallbaum, 79, died Thursday. Services Saturday at 2 p.m. in Witt funeral home.

Funeral services for John H. Stallbaum were held at the Witt funeral chapel at 2 o'clock Saturday afternoon, March 17. The Rev. Paul Kitterer officiated. Burial was in the East Side cemetery.

Mr. Stallbaum suffered a stroke on Sunday and died Thursday morning, March 15, 1951. His death was sudden. He had been afflicte dwith arthritis for a number of years and for the past several years found it hard to get around even with the use of a cane.

John Henry Stallbaum, the son of Peter and Katherine Stallbaum, was born in Cox Creek township, August 13, 1871, on the farm which had been his home during his entire life. He was one of a family of four children. Two sisters and his parents preceded him in death.

After his father's death he stayed on the farm with his mother. Besides farming he was active in a threshing ring, and did line work for the Communia Telephone Co. For several years he was caretaker of the Elkader fair grounds and planted all the trees now there.

At the time of his death he had reached the age of 79 years, seven months and two days.

He is survived by one brother, L.J. Stallbaum of Elkader, seven nephews and three nieces.

Pallbearers were Harold Downey, Cleo Lee, Leighton Bente, Ben Casey, Leroy Lenth, Henry Possehl, Jr.
