Volga City- Mrs. James Bowles, 79, died Friday at Arlington. Services and burial at Volga City Sunday.

Elizabeth Uttridge Bowles, daughter of George and Emma Uttridge was born November 28, 1871, at Little Thetfor, Cambridge, England and died at her home in Arlington April 27, at the age of 79 years, four months and 27 days.

She was educated in the school of England. On February 21, 1898, she was married to James Henry Bowles at St. Paul's Knightbridge, London, England. Two children were born to this union, one of which, Lettie Louise, preceded her in death.

The family left England in 1906 and arrived in New York City where they remained several years. In 1913, they came to Iowa and farmed near Volga for a number of years, then bought a home at Arlington. Mrs. Bowles was a member of the church of England, but in Arlington, she and her husband united with the Methodist church in 1940.

Besides her husband, she is survived by one son George of Postville; two grandchildren, Gary and Judy Bowles; two sisters, one in England and one in Australia and a brother in England.

Services were held Sunday at the Methodist church in Arlington, with burial in Hill Crest cemetery, Volga.
