Elkader- John Lenhart, 76, died Tuesday at his home in Littleport. Services Thursday at 2 p.m. in Hope Lutheran church at Littleport.

Littleport - Funeral services for John Lenhart, 76, were held Thursday, Dec. 14, 1950, with the Rev. WG. Weber officiating. Burial was in the Musfeldt cemetery.
John Andrew Lenhart, son of Phillip Lenhart and his wife Catherin, nee Eckhart, was born at Arlington Feb. 24, 1874. There he spent his youth going to school and helping his father on the farm.
On March 29, 1899 he was united in marriage to Anna Behrens at Volga City. To them nine children were born, three sons and six daughters.
The first three years of their married life were spent at Arlington. Then they moved to Volga City. Two years later they came to what is now known as the Lenhart farm, about two miles east of Littleport.
In 1932 he retired and moved to Littleport, but continued to be active on the farm, helping his sons. Seven years ago he was stricken with arthritis. Two years later he was able to resume his work. Since 1947 he suffered from leukemia which made it necessary for him to go many times to the hospital.
He died Tuesday morning at 12:30 in Mercy hospital at Oelwein. His age was 76 years, nine months, 18 days.
Those preceding him in death were his parents, three brothers, one sister and his infant son, Carlos.
He is survived by his wife, Anna; two sons, Wyman Lenhart of Elkader, Ivan Lenhart of Littleport; six daughters, Mrs. W.R. Phelps of Cedar Rapids, Mrs. V.R. Matthews of Hammond, Ind., Miss Olive Lenhart of Cedar Rapids, Mrs. Gilbert Rutledge of Cedar Rapids, Mrs. Melvin Enderes of Cedar Rapids, and Mrs. Jannarius Zapf of Littleport; fifteen grandchildren, one great-grandchild; also four sisters, Mrs. Mart Frey, Wadena; Mrs. Etta Dunn, Fayette, Mrs. Emma Morf, Hawkeye, and Mrs. Arthur Smith, Ventura, Calif.
Pallbearers were Ray Kill, Harold Liddy, Vernon Clinton, Clarence Kuehl, J.P. Zapf and Ray Hughes.
