Theodore T. Loftsgard was born in Marion township, April 9, 1875, the son of Tosten and Margit Loftsgard. He died after a short illness at the La Crosse, Wis., Lutheran hospital on July 28, at the age of eighty-one years.
Mr. Loftsgard spent all his life on the same farm near Elgin, on which he was born.
When a child he was baptized and confirmed at the Marion Lutheran Church where he had been a member since.
On May 2, 1904, he was united in marriage to Julia Olsen. They celebrated their golden wedding in 1954. To this union three children were born, Jenetta (Mrs. Keith Brainard), Postville, Orven who resides on the home farm, and Millard who preceded him in death at the age of ten years. Also, Emma Nestiby/Nesteby (Mrs. Leslie Lantz), Elkader, who spent her childhood days at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Loftsgard.
Surviving besides his widow, children and Emma, are six grandchildren, Jane Loftsgard, Marsha Brainard, Laverne Lantz, Verna Lantz Kuehl, Norma Lantz and Sherril Lantz, also one great-grandchild, Victor Lantz.
He was preceded in death by his parents, son and four brothers, Ole, Nels, Halver and Lars.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, July 31, at the Marion Lutheran Church with the Rev. Bruce Boyce officiating. Casket bearers were Kenneth Kjosa, Cornelius Reirson, Myron Houg, Tilpher Bilden, Clifford Gisleson and Arthur Landsgard.
