Iowa Deaths:

Elkader- Stener Thompson, 76, died Monday night. Services: 1:30 p.m. Thursday at the Highland Lutheran Church. Body is at the Witt Funeral Home.

Funeral services for Stener Thompson, 76, will be held from the Witt funeral chapel at 12:30 o'clock today (Thursday) to the Highland Lutheran church at 1:30 o'clock. Burial will be in the Highland Lutheran cemetery.

Mr. Thompson died Monday, September 5, following a brief illness.

Stener O. Thompson, the son of Ole and Leve (Brattrud) Bogstrand, was born in Highland township on Sept. 30, 1872, and died Monday morning, Sept. 5, 1949, at the age of 76 years, 11 months and five days.

He is survived by one brother, Hulver Thompson, of Elkader, and two nieces and two nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and two brothers.

With the exception of one year, when he lived in Texas, Stener's entire life was spent in Clayton county

He received his education in the rural schools of his home township, after which he followed the profession of a stone mason. Many examples of his handicraft are located throughout the county.

Funeral services were held on Thursday afternoon, Sept. 8, from the Witt funeral chapel at 12:30 and at the Highland Lutheran church at 1:30. Burial was in the adjoining cemetery. Casket bearers were John Erickson, Richard Erickson, Oscar Benson, Ole Embretson, O. H. Larson and Adolph Larson.
