Anna Charlotte Elizabeth Menges Schoeppe was born on a farm near Arlington Aug. 17, 1883. She died Sept. 18, 1951, at her home in Strawberry Point after a lingering illness. She was the daughter of Peter and Wilhelmena Echrens Menges.
She married Carl A. Schoeppe May 6, 1908. They had two daughters, Vernita (Mrs. Arthur Elliott) of Sumner, and Aileen (Dr. Aileen Schoeppe) of Chicago, Ill.
Mrs. Schoeppe was a member of the Strawberry Point Chapter Order of the Eastern Star, the Past Matron's club and the Thimble Society of the Congregational church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Helmuth Menges and Lee J. Menges, and a sister, Charlotte Menges Humbert.
Survivors are her husband, two daughters and two granddaughters, Kay Linda and Kathleen Ann Elliott, a sister, Esther Menges of Arlington, and a brother, Joe Menges, of Alta Vista.
Mr. and Mrs. Schoeppe lived at Hotel Mealey for several winters.
Funeral services were held at the Congregational church of Strawberry Point, Thursday, Sept. 20, at 2:30, in charge of the Rev. L. W. Hauter, who was her pastor when they were in Oelwein. He was assisted by the Rev. Wayne Carlson of Strawberry Point. Mrs. Jennie Howard and Mrs. Carrie Slagle, accompanied by Mrs. John Knight, sang. Burial was in Strawberry Point.
