McGregor, Ia., Oct 25 - John Cottrell, 65 years old, was burned to death in his home here Friday evening at 7 o'clock when he attempted to hurry a fire in a stove by pouring kerosene on it. The bottom of the kerosene can was blown out, deluging him with burning oil. His clothes caught fire and he rushed, a living torch, across the street to drop on a neighbor's doorstep. He was taken to the hospital where he died four hours later.

Mr. Cottrell was a widower and lived lone. He has no near relatives. Funeral services will be held Sunday.
