Postville Herald, Fri., 1 Aug. 1919.
Mrs. Wilhelmina Dahms Passed Away.
On Tuesday afternoon at 1:30 p.m., Mrs. Henry Dahms died at the home of her son, Henry, southeast of Postville after an illness of several months. Mrs. Dahms was born in Germany on October 15, 1845, and in 1870 emigrated to the United States, locating near Garnavillo. At the latter place she was married to Henry Dahms one year later. To this union were born 11 children, six sons and five daughters, of whom three sons and one daughter, together with the husband, preceded her in death. In 1876 the family left Garnavillo and moved onto a farm in Grand Meadow township, where they remained until 1903, when they moved to Postville. Failing health last December prompted her to make her home with her son, Henry, in Grand Meadow township, where she lived up to her death.
The following children are left to mourn the loss of a good mother: Henry Dahms and Mrs. John Backhaus of Route 1, Luana; Fred, Edwin, Mrs. Chas. Heins and Mrs. Herman Willman, of near Castalia; and Mrs. Geo. Schultz of northeast of this city.
The funeral services will be held this (Friday) afternoon at 1:45 at the home of Henry Dahms and at 2:30 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in this city. Burial will take place in the Postville cemetery.
