Oelwein Daily Register, Wed., 24 Sept. 1969.

Strawberry Point- Services were held Tuesday, Sept. 23, at 1:30 p.m. for Edward F. Hakert, 76, Littleport, at the Feeney-Knutson Funeral Home, Strawberry Point, with the Rev. Alvin Volie officiating. Burial was in the Mederville Cemetery.

Hakert died Saturday, Sept. 20, at the Delaware County Memorial Hospital, Manchester.

The son of Karl and Carolyn Thiede Hakert, Edward Hakert was born Dec. 28, 1892, at Littleport where he was a lifetime resident. He and Minnie Nightingale were married Feb. 23, 1915 at Elkader. He was a retired Farmer.

Survivors include three sons, Marvin, Herman and Melvin, all of Strawberry Point; Three daughters, Mrs. LaVera Smith, Elkader, Mrs. Helen Nading, and Mrs. Wanda Berns, both of Rockford, Ill.; and one sister, Mrs. Elsie Kafer, Littleport. Preceding him in death were his parents, his wife, one son, and three brothers.
