Guttenberg, Ia., Oct 16 - The remains of John Kluth, 64, who died at Elkader Sunday after a long illness, were brought to Guttenberg Wednesday and were buried in the city cemetery.

Deceased was born in Guttenberg and resided here up until several years ago when he moved to Elkader. While there he served as a deputy sheriff for some time.

Besides his widow, he is survived by one daughter and one brother, George Kluth, Guttenberg.

He was a member of the Masonic lodge, members of which attended in a body and conducted services at the graveside.

John W. Kluth died here Sunday, October 12, 1930, at 12:15, in his home on First Street, following a complication of diseases from which he had suffered since May 28th, last.

Mr. Kluth was born June 24, 1868, at Guttenberg, Iowa, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Christian Kluth and thus, at the time of his death had reached the age of sixty-two years, three months and eighteen days. May 22, 1895, he was united in marriage with Alma C. Aulwes at the Wm. Aulwes home and to this union one daughter, Leona, was born. Those surviving are the widow, Mrs. John W. Kluth, Mrs. Leona Kluth Gusta, one brother, George, of Guttenberg, and two grandsons.

The deceased had spent all his life in Clayton county, being born in Guttenberg, he resided there until Nov. 01, 1920, when he removed to Elkader with his family to assume the office of deputy sheriff under Sheriff Chris P. Larson. He served in this capacity for six years and then accepted a position on the road system of this county, which he held up to the time of his illness.

He was affiliated with the Lutheran church and an active member of the Masonic order, esteemed in these bodies and by all who knew him. Those remaining to mourn him have the sincere sympathy of all in their bereavement.

Funeral services were conducted Wednesday afternoon, at the late home and at the Evangelical church here by the Rev. C. H. Franke. The remains were then taken to Guttenberg where interment was made in the beautiful Guttenberg cemetery where the Masonic services were held.
