Guttenberg- Rita Mae McGuire, 75, of Guttenberg, died Sunday, Dec. 28, 2008, at University Hospitals, Iowa City, following a short illness. Memorial services will be held at a later date. arrangements are with Lensing Funeral and Cremation Service in Iowa City.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to The American Cancer Society.

Rita was born Dec. 23, 1933, in Clinton, Iowa, the daughter of Clarence and Rita (Schulte) Kann. She graduated from Garnavillo High School. On Jan. 15, 1952, Rita married Gerald J. McGuire at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Garnavillo.

Rita is survived by her husband, Jerry of Guttenberg; and their three sons; Rick (Nancy) McGuire of Indianapolis, and their children, Jacob and Kevin; Ronald (Carol) McGuire of Indianapolis, and their children, Patrick and Timothy; and Randy (Pamela) McGuire of Cincinnati, Ohio. She is also survived by her two sisters, Karla (Eugene) Preston and Judith (Ronald) Ashline, both of Guttenberg.

Rita was preceded in death by her parents.

(NOTE: Her mother died in 1994. Her mother's obit, on this board, gives her mothers maiden name as Schoulte.)
