Christ. Summers was born April 15th, 1850, at Ostermundigen, Kanton Bern, Switzerland. When seven years of age his parents came to this country and settled on a farm in Marion township, this county.
On Aug. 3rd, 1883, he was united in marriage with Elizabeth A. Cook. One child, a daughter, was born to this union.
The family lived for years on the farm in Boardman township, where Mr. Summers passed away Sunday afternoon, Jan. 7th, at the age of 61 years, 8 months and 22 days.
His departure is mourned by his wife and his daughter, Mrs. Ernest Aeschleman. He also leaves one brother, John, of Witoka, Minn., and a number of relatives and friends.
Funeral services, which were largely attended, in spite of the cold, were held Wednesday, Jan. 10th, at the home of the departed, and at the German church in this city, conducted by Rev. Franke. His earthly remains were laid to rest in the East Side cemetery.
