Strawberry Point, Feb. 23rd, 1886 - Another old soldier has gone to join the army above. This time it is Lemuel H. Jordan, living 3 1/2 miles south of this place, who died on Saturday night last, of typhoid fever.

The funeral was held at the Baptist church, under the auspices of the G.A.R., of which order the deceased was a member.

Rev. W.J. Hicks preached the funeral sermon.

~Elkader Weekly Register, Feb 25, 1886 (Strawberry Point column)

Note: his burial place has not been confirmed by the submitter. His wife, Eliza nee Cole, who died in 1913, is buried in the Strawberry Point cemetery - he may also be buried there. Confirmation of burial site would be appreciated.
