Died at his home in Volga, Dec. 7, John Wesley Wroe. He was born at Dovestown, Green county, Penn., Feb. 2nd, 1841.
In 1861 he enlisted in the 6th West Virginia Infantry and served to the end of the war.
He came to Iowa in 1865 and on Oct. 7th, 1876, was united in marriage with Miss Clarinda Groves, who with an adopted son are left to mourn his loss.
The funeral was held Sunday afternoon, attended by a large number who had known him as a kind and charitable friend and neighbor. Rev. Shoemaker preached a good discourse and the body was laid to rest in the Volga cemetery.
Thus one by one those who fought for our country are going, and we say "another old soldier gone," without thinking of the sacrifice they made in their younger days. The sympathy of all goes with the family.

John Wesley Wroe was born at Davistown, Green Co., Penn., Feb. 2nd, 1841. In 1861 he enlisted in the 6th West Virginia Vol. Infantry and served until the close of the war.
He came to Fayette county, Iowa, in 1865, and was united in marriage to Clarinda Graves Oct. 7th, 1876.
He died Dec. 7th, 1906, at Volga City, Iowa. Mr. Wroe was a man that had the respect of everyone who knew him, was a hard working man and was well liked by his neighbors. The funeral was held at the Methodist church in Volga on Sunday and the remains were laid to rest in the Volga City cemetery. The church was filled to its utmost capacity. He leaves his wife and adopted son, Lester.
