Postville, Ia., Feb 9 - Funeral ceremonies for August Kugel were held Monday afternoon at the Lutheran St. Paul's church. The Rev. R.B. Garten officiated and interment was in Grand Meadow cemetery.

August Kugel died Friday morning at 4 o'clock at his home in Postville at the age of 73 years. He was born Jan 11, 1859, at Gross-Fahlenwerder in Germany and in 1876 emigrated to America, landing in Lansing, Ia., March 28. Farming was his life-time occupation.

On Feb. 21, 1884, he was married to Miss Maria Zieman and for 35 years they made their home on a farm in Grand Meadow township. Six children were born to them, of whom one son, Fred, died in 1895 at the age of 5 years. In 1919 the family retired from farming and moved into town.

He is survived by his widow, three daughters, Mrs. Emilie Borcherding, Guttenberg; Miss Louisa Kugel, at home; and Mrs. Amy Renne, Cedar Rapids; and two sons, William Kugel, Grand Meadow, and Harvey at home.

There are also five grandchildren and one brother, Fritz Kugel of Ludlow township.
