Strawberry Point- Elizabeth Maria Debes, 84, died Tuesday, Aug. 22, at the Grandview Nursing Home, Oelwein. She was a long-time resident of Strawberry Point, and a retired beauty operator who owned a shop.

Services were held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 24, at the Feeney-Knutson Chapel with the Rev. Paul Huscher officiating. Burial was in the Mederville Cemetery.

The daughter of Peter A. and Elizabeth Watkins Debes, Miss Debes was born Aug. 5, 1883 in Cox Creek Township, Clayton County, and attended Cox Creek Township school. A graduate of Pitze's Beauty School, Waterloo, she was a member of the Methodist church and her hobbies included needlework, gardening and reading.

Survivors include a sister, Mrs. Alma Carpenter, Strawberry Point.

Preceding her in death were her parents; one sister, and four brothers. Feeney-Knutson Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
