Monona- Robert "Bowser" Ambrose, 41, died Tuesday in Veterans Administration Medical Center, Iowa City, following a lengthy illness. He was a bartender for several years.
Surviving are his wife, Linda; two daughters, Tammy and Terri, both at home: his mother, Marie of Monona; four sisters, Caroline Lenth of St. Olaf, Mary Mitchell of Monona, Loretta Sautter of Manchester and Linda Landt of Luana; and one brother, Roger of Marion.
Services: 10:30 a.m. Saturday, St. Patrick's Catholic Church. Burial: St. Wenceslaus Cemetery, rural McGregor. Friends may call after 2 p.m. Friday at Schultz's, where a rosary will be recited at 8 p.m. Friday.

Services for Robert Ambrose were held Saturday, September 21, 1985 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Monona, Iowa at 10:30 a.m. Father John Moran officiating. Pallbearers were Rick Bacon, Greg Mosier, Donnie Klotzbach, Roger Henkes, Ramon Sass and Marvin Brainard. Burial was in St. Wenceslaus Cemetery, rural McGregor with military honors by AMVETS Post 27.
Robert James (Bowser) Ambrose was born August 23, 1944 in Giard Township, Clayton County, Iowa. He was the son of John & Marie (Havlicek) Ambrose. He was baptized and confirmed in St. Patrick Catholic Church, Monona. He attended St. Patrick School through 8th grade and M-F-L High School, Monona.
He was united in marriage to Linda O'Neal January 27, 1968 at St. Patrick Catholic Church. To this union two daughters, Tammy & Terri were born. He worked as a bartender for 15 years at the Corner Tap and for a short time at East Side Pub & Luana Tavern. He entered into service of our country on August 11, 1965 and discharged July 30, 1967, serving in the Vietnam Campaign.
He died Tuesday, September 17, 1985 at the Veterans Hospital, Iowa City, having reached the age of 41 years, 24 days. Preceding him in death were his father John Ambrose who died January 16, 1982 and a brother in infancy.
Surviving are his wife Linda; two daughters, Tammy and Terri at home; his mother Marie Ambrose; 4 sisters Mrs. Virgil (Caroline) Lenth, St. Olaf, Mrs. Gary (Mary) Mitchell, Monona, Mrs. Terry (Lorretta) Sautter, Manchester, Mrs. Alan (Linda) Landt, Luana; a brother Roger (Viki) Ambrose, Marion; and a host of relatives and friends.
