Chris Wacker, son of Henry and Mary Louise (Keifer) Wacker, was born Jan. 10, 1872, at Mederville and died Wednesday, Feb. 19, 1958, at the Samaritan home in Elkader.
Mr. Wacker spent his entire life in Clayton county in or near Mederville. He farmed 30 years on a farm two miles north of Mederville. In 1945 he retired and purchased a home in Mederville which he retained until his death.
Mr. Wacker lost the use of one foot and was confined to a wheel chair for the past 12 years.
On August 10, 1896, he was united in marriage , at the Wacker farm, to Miss Emma Gaulke. They were privileged to celebrate their 61st wedding anniversary.
After the death of his wife on Oct. 25, 1957, he made his home at the Samaritan home in Elkader.
Mr. Wacker is survived by four sisters: Mrs. Anna Leonard, Huntington, Ind.; Mrs. George (Martie) Alden, Bonaparte; Miss Elizabeth Wacker, Cedar Rapids; and Mrs. Claude (Caroline) Prewitt, Olympia, Wash.; and one brother, Frank, Elkader.
Funeral services were held Friday, Feb. 21, at 1:30 p.m. at the Witt funeral parlors with the Rev. Paul Kitterer officiating. Burial was at Mederville cemetery.
