Strawberry Point- Herman W. Hakert, 65, a farmer, was dead on arrival Monday evening at Central Community Hospital in Elkader after a heart attack.

Surviving are a son, Michael of Dubuque; a daughter. Vicki Rettinger of Strawberry Point, two brothers, Marvin of Strawberry Point and Melvin of Volga; three sisters, LaVera Smith of Elkader, and Helen Nading and Wanda Berns, both of Rockford, Ill.; and three grandchildren.

Services: 2 p.m. Friday at Witt's in Elkader, where friends may call after 3 p.m. Thursday. Burial: Mederville Cemetery. rural Elkader, where there will be military rites.
