Guttenberg- Maurice G. Pierce, 88, of Guttenberg, died Monday, Nov. 20, 2006, in his home following a brief illness. Celebration of Life gathering: 4 to 7 p.m. today at the Guttenberg Municipal Center.
Surviving besides his wife, June, are three daughters, Glee Palmer-Davis of Hansville, Wash., Janet (Dick) Broeg of Branson, Mo., and Maureen (Ron) Valentine of Plano, Iowa; seven sons, Jeffrey (Vickie) Pierce of Belle Plaine, Christopher (Kathy) Pierce of North Liberty, Mick (Carolyn) Pierce of Guttenberg, James (Julie) Pierce of Belle Plaine, Joseph (Pat) Pierce of Nixa, Mo., Paul (Maria) Pierce of Corona, Calif., and Terrance (Adriana) Pierce of Cedar Rapids; 37 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.
He was born March 7, 1918, in Colesburg, Iowa, and married to June B. Davis on April 15, 1939, in Dubuque. He was owner and operator of the Pierce Lumber Co. in Guttenberg, a mill he started in 1942. He also was on the Guttenberg City Council for 11 years. Mr. Pierce enjoyed hunting, fishing and playing bridge.
Arrangements are with the Cremation Society of Eastern Iowa.
