Rose Odegard Ruroden, daughter of Knut and Anna Thompson Odegard, was born in Clayton county, near Elgin, March 25, 1889, and passed away Oct 28, at the age of sixty-eight years.

She was baptized and confirmed at the Marion Lutheran Church.

On Sept. 21, 1907, she was united in marriage to Adolph Ruroden. To this union fourteen children were born. They lived in the vicinity of Elgin on farms until the death of her husband in 1950. About five years ago she went to live with her son, Kenneth, where she passed away. She had been in failing health the past few years. In June, 1956, she had major surgery at the University Hospital at Iowa City, and four months later she fell and broke her hip. She was seriously ill the past month.

She leaves to mourn her death eight children: Kenneth, Maynard, Mrs. Nanferd (Myrtle) Osmundson of West Union, Mrs. Barney (Renetta) Larson, Mrs. Robert (Violet) Barker, Clarence of Elgin, Alvin of Postville, Mrs. Harold (Thelma) Patrick of Hawkeye; also one sister, Mrs. Mary Gisleson, and on brother, Oscar of Oelwein, also twenty-eight grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends.

Preceding her in death were her husband, six sons, parents and one brother, Charley Odegard, who passed away Oct. 23.

Funeral services were held at the Marion Lutheran Church Wednesday, Oct. 30, with the Rev. John Kronlokken officiating. Pallbearers were Henry Gisleson, Arthur Larson, Luana, Leonard Odegard, Cedar Rapids, Norman Osmundson, West Union, and Glen Odegard and Dwain Barker.
