Postville Herald, Thur., 15 March 1934.
Many were the expressions of regret voiced by the friends who knew the Melvin Peterson family, which resides on the John Ruckdaschel farm south of Postville, when they learned of the passing of the young wife and mother in that household Friday morning, following a brief illness.
Mrs. Isabelle Peterson was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Engelhardt of near Elkader and was born March 19, 1907. She was married to Melvin Peterson on March 5, 1924, at Elkader. They lived first in Wagner township for two years, then moved to South Dakota for one year, then lived five years in Marion township and two years ago moved to their present home.
Three sons, aged nine years, 4 years and the babe but a few days old, beside the husband survive her, as do the parents and two brothers, Curtis at Elkader and Allen at home.
The deceased was aged 26 years, 11 months and 17 days at the time of her passing Friday morning.
Funeral services were held at the home at one o'clock Monday afternoon with the Rev. Mr. Stranjord of St. Olaf officiating, as he did also at the services held at Norway Lutheran church near St. Olaf at 2 o'clock. Interment was in the cemetery nearby the church.
