W.H. Pierson of Marion, aged 65 years, died at his home last week Wednesday, from pulmonary consumption. The funeral occurred Friday.

Mr. Pierson was born at Lewiston, Mifflin county, Pennsylvania, March 19, 1829. When quite young he moved with his parents to Delaware and
adjacent states. He came to Minnesota in 1855, settling near Eyota. In 1872 he moved to the farm in Pleasant Grove township, where he died.

Mr. Pierson was a veteran of the Mexican war, having served in an Iowa regiment. He always followed the life of a farmer, thought for a few years he spent part of the time in this city going out to the farm at certain seasons of the year to look after things.

Deceased was one of the first charter members of the Rochester A.O.U.W. society, and a number of members from that order attended the recent funeral.

Mr. Pierson was married to Elizabeth Ruttan, who died nearly twenty years ago. Five sons and four daughters are now living.

~Rochester Record and Union, 12/7/1894

They are buried in the Grand Meadow cemetery. William H. Pearson was a member of Captain John Parker's Company of Iowa Dragoons Volunteers during the Mexican war.

William Pearson is the contributor's gg-granduncle, the brother of George Pearson, her gg-grandfather.
