Monona- Lorin J. Schmelzer, 67, died Friday, July 25, 1997, in Gunderson Lutheran Hospital, Lacrosse, Wis., following a long illness. Services: 11 a.m. Tuesday, St. Patrick's Catholic Church. Burial: church cemetery. Friends may call 2 to 9 p.m. Monday at Schultz's Funeral Home, Monona, where a rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. and a Scripture service will be held at 7:30 p.m.

Survivors include his wife, Edna; three sons, David of Monona, Darrell of Ossian, and Allen of Okinawa, Japan; a daughter, Linda Gullickson of Monona; three sisters, Marie Dickman of Garnavillo, Bernadette Stroschein of Garnavillo and Leonilla Moser of Elkader; and two brothers, Joseph of Guttenberg and James of Garnavillo.
