Luana, Iowa, April, 5.—One of the pioneers of Clayton county passes over to the other shore. Wm. S. Scott, of Luana, died Wednesday in Willeby, Ohio, at the residence of his daughter, Mrs. Dr. Moore, where he was spending the winter. He has been ailing and failing in health since his wife died about a year ago. The remains will be brought home for burial. Mr. Scott came to Iowa in 1846 and settled in Clayton county. During the Mexican war he enlisted and served at Fort Atkinson as well as along the then frontier against the Indians. Mr. Scott was a warm friend of the soldier boys of ’64-5. He was a member of the M. E. church, where he enjoyed the confidence and esteem of all. He died with the armor on and has gone to his reward.
