Elkader- Jacob William Scherf, 8, of Elkader, died Saturday, March 8, 2008, at University Hospitals, Iowa City, from injuries suffered in an accidental fire. Services: 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Elkader, with the Rev. Paul Peters officiating. Burial: church cemetery. Friends may call from 3 to 7 p.m today at Leonard Funeral Home, Elkader, and after 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at the church.

Survivors include his parents, Michael and Paula Scherf; his twin brother, Jonathan; and sister, Ashley, all of Elkader.

In lieu of flowers, St. Joseph's Scherf Family Assistance Fund has been established. Memorials may be mailed to St. Joseph's Parish Center, Central State Bank, or Freedom Bank, all in Elkader.
