Source - Northeast Iowa Times, McGregor, Iowa:

Mr. John T. Adney became seriously ill last Friday, and to relieve his suffering he was taken to the Prairie du Chien Sanitarium but, it was too late and he passed away in the evening June 2nd, 1922. He was a native of Ohio and was 78 years, 9 months and 18 days.

He was married to Miss Sarah Ann Oxberger who came to live with him in the west and make a home for their family "of young ones". To this union were born fourteen children, three of them dying in Wisconsin when infants, three growing to young manhood and womanhood and then passing away.

There are left to mourn with their aged mother, two daughters; Mrs. Lucy Schaefer, and Mrs. Susie Brown of Chicago; and six sons, John Alvin, Austin, Arthur, Alonzo, Jonathan and Herman, all except Jonathan living here near the old home place. Mr. Adney has been a resident on rural farms for thirty-seven years, a man of sterling qualities, and until within a few years, very active and energetic.

The remains of Mr. Adney were brought over from Prairie du Chien Saturday, and the funeral held from the family home west of town Monday afternoon, Rev. A.M.S. Stook officiating. All his children except Mrs. Brown and Jonathan, whose home is far from a railroad in Montana, were present to do honor to their father at his funeral. We extend the sympathy of the community to those who mourn.

Thanks go to Charlene Barnhardt who researched the Adney's and sent me the copies!
