Clayton County Register, Thur., 28 Jan. 1932. Giard column.

Mrs. A. S. Wickersheim, who passed away at her home Monday evening, Jan. 18, 1932, was born Dec. 24, 1898. She was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Barnhard. She grew to womanhood here and on Nov. 30, 1922, she was united in marriage to Atherton Wickersheim. The young people began farming on the groom's farm near Giard and it was here her death occurred, after several months of intense suffering, which she bore patiently. Although knowing her ailment to be incurable she was ever cheerful and always greeted her friends and loved ones with a smile. All that medical skill and care could do was done for her but to no avail.

Mrs. Wickersheim was a member of the Giard M.E. church and of the W.F.M.S. and W.C.T.U. organizations and of the Eastern Star of McGregor, who attended in a body.

She leaves to mourn her death her sorrowing husband and one daughter Irene, age 6; one brother, Byron Barnhard of McGregor; and one sister, Mrs. Fred Hartke; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Barnhard of Monona, and a host of sorrowing relatives and friends. Funeral services were held Thursday afternoon from her late home and the church, conducted by Rev. W. L. Feller. Rev. J. L. Menzor, a former pastor, made a few well chosen remarks at the close of the service. Interment was made in Giard cemetery.

Mrs. Wickersheim was held in highest esteem by all who knew her, as was attested by a large number of friends attending the services and the many beautiful floral offerings.

The sympathy of the entire community is with the bereaved families.
