Laraldo Wahls

Funeral services for Laraldo Wahls, 76, were held Saturday, Jan. 8, 1994, in St. Paul Lutheran Church at Postville. The Rev. Charles W. Miller officiated with burial in the Postville Cemetery. Pallbearers were Timothy Wahls, Sherman Zieman, James Gallagher, Lonnie Hangartner, Randy Hangartner and Dennis Rooney.

Laraldo Fred Wahls was born March 31, 1917, near Farmersburg, Iowa. He was baptized and confirmed into the Lutheran faith. Laraldo attended the rural school near his home. On September 29, 1937, he was married to Geneva Myrtle Gilson. They were the parents of three children. They farmed in the Monona, Castalia and Postville areas, moving to the present farm in 1952. He died January 5, 1994, in the Good Samaritan Center at Postville. His later years were enriched by his friendship with Bernice Hangartner and her family. He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Postville.

Survivors include his three children, Luann (Mrs. Harold) Muller of St. Paul, Minn., Allen Wahls of Postville and Donna (Mrs. Nile) Zieman of Luana; eight grandchildren, Timothy, Kimberly, Susan, Sara and Samantha Wahls and Charmion, Sherman and Lanny Zieman.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Geneva, who died in 1984.
