Elkader- Another name has been added to the list of summer drowning fatalities, that of Milton Johnson, 40, Guttenberg.
About 7 p.m. Sunday evening "Shorty" Wade, also of Guttenberg, noticed Johnson alone in his motor boat, heading into what is locally known as "Prairie Slough", one-half mile north of Guttenberg on the Mississippi. Wade reports that he saw Johnson stand up in his boat, the boat was caught in a whirlpool and went down almost immediately.
Searchers went out Sunday night, and again this morning (Monday), but as yet the body had not been found. Local authorities say the search will be a lengthy one as the water in the area where Johnson drowned is some 50 feet deep.
Johnson was employed at the locks at Guttenberg, and lived there with his aunt and uncle, Mr. and Mrs. Herman Muller.

NOTE: Burial was made in Guttenberg City Cemetery.
