Cedar Rapids Gazette, Thur., 6 March 1969.

Elkader- John Roach, 76, a retired farmer, was killed about 7:15 p.m. Wednesday when his car left highway 13 on a curve 7 miles south of Elkader.

Deputy Sheriff Terry Golz said Mr. Roach apparently lost control of his car on a curve. The car went over an embankment and hit a tree. He was thrown from the car.

His death is the second auto fatality in Clayton county in 1969.

Mr. Roach is survived by his wife, Katherine; two brothers and one sister.

Services: Saturday at 10 a.m., St. Joseph's Catholic church. The body is at the McTaggart funeral home.
