McGregor, Ia. - Mrs. J.D. Bickel, 83, pioneer McGregor resident, died here Tuesday at the home of her son, LeRoy, following a long illness.
Funeral services will be held Thursday afternoon at 3 o'clock at the home with the Rev. G.W. McMichael, pastor of the Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Grove Cemetery.
Mrs. Bickel was the former Mary Anna Hanson, was born Nov. 23, 1855 at Racine, Wis. She came to McGregor with her mother when she was a young girl and in 1876 was married to J.D. Bickel. They lived at Giard until 1892 when they came to McGregor. Her husband died in March, 1928. The past three years Mrs. Bickel lived with her son.
Five of her 10 children survive. They are: LeRoy of McGregor, Karl of Ft. Worth, Tex., Earl and Robert, both of Cedar Rapids, and Mrs. James V. Riley of Dubuque.
