LIFE SKETCH OF J.F. BAILEY

James F. Bailey was born on June 5, 1904, In Highland township of Clayton county, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Bailey. On September 22, 1923, he married Mary Doan. He died at his home in Guttenberg, Monday, February 18, at the age of 47.

The couple made their home in Elgin most of the time until 1945 when they moved to Guttenberg to enter the garage business. He was a director of the Guttenberg Chamber of Commerce and a member of the board of the Guttenberg Independent School District

Mr. and Mrs. Bailey only a short time ago moved into their new home on the Riverfront in the north part of Guttenberg.

Mr. Bailey is survived by Mrs. Bailey and one daughter, Mrs. Walter Bovis and by a granddaughter, Mary Sue Bovis.

Also surviving are his mother, Mrs. Roy McCullough of Brawley, Calif., a brother, Ernest, of San Diego, Calif., and two sisters, Mrs. Lois Bredfield of Garnavillo and Mrs. Minerva McClain of Brawley, Calif.

He was preceded in death by a sister who died in infancy and by his father.

The funeral services were held Thursday and were in charge of Rev. E.J. Starr. Graveside services were conducted by the Guttenberg and Elgin Masonic lodges. Burial was made in the Elgin Cemetery.

Pallbearers for the services were members of the staff of the Falb-Bailey firm.

IN APPRECIATION –We wish in this manner, to express our heartfelt gratitude for the many kindnesses shown us following the loss of our husband and father, James F. Bailey. To the people taking part in the funeral, to the lodge, to the ladies who prepared and served the food and to all the friends, we say thank you. These deeds did much to make lighter the burden of our loss. Mrs. James F. Bailey, Mr. and Mrs. Walter Bovis, Mary Sue Bovis.
