A profound feeling of sadness was cast over our community Wednesday when it became known that Mrs. Geo. Monti had passed away Feb. 1st, 1905, at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Opitz, in Boardman township.

Alma Opitz was born Oct. 3rd, 1881, in Boardman township where she grew to womanhood, receiving her education at the country school and at the Sister's school at St. Mary's.

She was united in marriage Feb. 24th, 1903, to Mr. George Monti, of Genoa, Wis. and to them was born one daughter, Sylvia. Besides the husband and child she leaves to mourn, her parents, three sisters and two brothers: Mrs. Henry Tillen, of Boardman; Max, of Boardman, Richard, Emma and Bertha, at home, and many other sorrowing kindred and friends.

Her sufferings were long and at times extremely painful but she bore it all with patience. She had the best of medical attendance and the kind care of husband, parents, sisters and brothers - still all this wealth of love and kindness was unable to stay the hand of the grim destroyer.

She was of a social, genial nature that won for her a host of friends with all whom she she mingled, while the nobility of her character and the purity of her life were such that to see her was to remember and to know her was to love her, and no act of her life could be pointed to that did not indicate the true worth of this noble minded woman, and her untimely death has cast a pall of sadness over the entire neighborhood.

Thee can be but one consoling thought in laying away in the cold and silent grave the form of those that we love. It is in the reflection that the gateway of death draped with the weeds of woe is but the doorway of life eternal and that we shall meet our loved ones again here the broken strand of friendship will be re-united. This is the only cloud with the silver lining that robs death of its terrors as without consolation death to one so young and gifted, can only be viewed in the light of a great calamity.

The funeral was held Friday at St. Joseph's church in this city, Rev. Father Reilly officiating. Her remains were laid to rest in the east side cemetery. May her name never be forgotten and her ashes rest in peace and for ever more be happy in his kind and tender care.

One by one earth's ties are broken.
So we see our love decay
And the hope, so fondly cherished.
Brighten but pass away.

One by one our hopes grow brighter
As we near the shining shore.
For we know across the river
Waits the loved one gone before.

From this world of sin and sorrow
To the Heavenly land above.
God has called away our loved one
There to rest in Jesus.

When our Savior, blessed Jesus,
Dwelt upon this earth you see
Kindly called the little children -
"Suffer not, come unto me" -
In his arms he'll take our loved one.
Who will rest so sweetly there.

Card of Thanks
Our most sincere thanks are due to friends and neighbors for assistance, sympathy and also for floral tributes during the illness, death and burial of our beloved wife, daughter and sister.
