Elgin Echo / Clermont Enterprise, Thur., 28 Dec. 1939.

Funeral services were held at Garnavillo Friday morning for Otto Schmelzer, 78, who passed away on Tuesday, Dec. 19. Just eleven days previous, on Dec. 11, Chris Zapf, 82, also of Garnavillo, was buried. Both men are uncles of Mrs. C. M. Kneeland.
