Oelwein, Ia. - Funeral services for Mrs. G.J. Franks, 71, were held at Sacred Heart Church here with the Rev. E.J. O'Hagen, pastor, officiating. Burial was in the Fairbank Cemetery.
As Amelia DeSotel, she was born Oct. 18, 1867 [may be Oct 13] in Millville Township, Clayton County, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph DeSotel. On May 28, 1888 she was married to George Jacob Franks at Elkader. The couple made their home on a farm near Colesburg until five years ago when they moved to a farm near Oelwein. Mrs. Franks had been in failing health for some time.
She is survived by her husband; seven children, Michael in Louisiana, Mrs. Henry Weidaman of Cassville, Wis., Mrs. Amos Franks and Earl, both of Edgewood; Mrs. Huston Smith, George, and Charles, all of Oelwein; and several brothers and sisters.
