Oelwein Daily Register, Tues., 1 Oct. 1957.

Volga-- Services for John H. Whittle, 72, will be held at Sacred Heart Church, time to be announced, pending word from a son in service in California.

Mr. Whittle died Sunday evening while en route to Iowa City to enter the hospital for treatment following a weeks illness at home.

His wife, the former Margaret Dinan, survives; also six children; Mrs. Ray (Joan) Sergott, Wayne, Mich.; Mrs. Marvin (Catherine) Hoppenworth, Cedar Rapids; Lawrence, Milwaukee; Patrick, California; Michael and Robert, at home; also one grandson.

The body is at Gill Funeral Home in Strawberry Point.
