Strawberry Point-- Funeral services for Mrs. Effie Gertrude Pugh, 75, will be held at the First Methodist church in Strawberry Point Friday afternoon, Dec. 20, at 1:30 p.m. with the Rev. Robert L. Smith officiating. Burial will be in the Strawberry Point cemetery. Body is at the Gill Funeral Home.

Effie Gertrude Sauerbry was born Jan. 18, 1882, near Strawberry Point, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Chris Sauerbry. On Dec. 2, 1882, she was married to Oren Pugh and the couple farmed north of town until the death of Mr. Pugh and Sept. 24, 1949.

For nearly seven years Mrs. Pugh has lived with and cared for Mrs. Emma Schug. On Monday of this week she went to live with a grandson, Verle Pugh, Strawberry Point, as her health would no longer permit her working. She was taken to the Delaware County Memorial Hospital in Manchester on Tuesday evening and she died at 6:30 a.m. Wednesday.

Survivors include a son, Glen Pugh of Des Moines; two granddaughters and eight great-grandchildren. There are also three sisters; Mrs. Lloyd (Ruby) Alfree of Beverton, Oregon; Mrs. Vincent (Ethel) Bodman of Whittier, Calif; and Mrs. Arnold (Beulah) Beguhn of Chandler, Ariz., and a brother, Ralph Sauerbry of Elyria, Ohio.
