Elkader-- John J. Garaghty, 72, died Sunday, Aug. 1, 1993, in Central Community Hospital of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. Services: 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, St. Joseph's Catholic Church. Burial: church cemetery. Friends may call after 2 p.m. today at Leonard-Witt Funeral Home, where a rosary will be recited at 3:30 and a Scripture service begins at 7:30.

Survivors include his wife, Jane; two sons, James and Kevin, both of Elkader; and three daughters, Peggy Weiland and Sherri Koenig, both of Dubuque, and Patricia Marcov of East Dubuque, Ill.
