Robert "Bobbie" Jessen, 70, died Wednesday morning at Veterans Administration Medical Center, Iowa City. He owned and operated Jessen's Tavern for 38 years.

Surviving are his wife, Bernice; a son, Douglas of Monticello; two sisters, Donna Wilhelm of Strawberry Point and Edna White of Holmen, Wis.; and five grandchildren.

Services: 11 a.m. Friday, United Methodist Church. Burial: Strawberry Point Cemetery, with military rites. Friends may call after 4 p.m. today at Roberson's, where Masonic services will be held at 7:30 tonight.
