Lorraine Arthur Schmelzer, 83, of Garnavillo, died Monday, Sept. 6, 2004, in Guttenberg Municipal Hospital after a short illness. Services: 10:30 a.m. Thursday, St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Garnavillo. The Rev. Marvin Bries will officiate. Burial: church cemetery. The family will greet friends from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Tuecke-Allyn Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Garnavillo.

Survivors include a daughter, Sharon Reth of Guttenberg; five sons, Gary of Hendersonville, Tenn., Terry and LaVerl, both of Prairie du Chien, Wis., and Jay and Richard, both of Garnavillo; a sister, Angeline Berns of Garnavillo; and a brother, Kenneth of Elkader.
