Mrs. Effie Henkes, of Monona, Ia., died at 11 p.m. Friday in a local hospital after a short illness. The body is at the Haudenshield funeral home, 2170 Central avenue. Funeral arrangements will be announced. Burial will be in the Monona City Cemetery.

She was born Aug. 29, 1878, at Monona. She came to Dubuque five months ago. She was a member of the Methodist church.

Surviving are a sister, Mrs. Joseph Walter, of Luana, Ia., and nieces and nephews. Her husband died several years ago.
