Clarence Anderson
Clarence Floyd, son of Pete and Marget (Sorenson) Anderson, was born March 3, 1908, at Grand Forks, ND. In 1915, he moved to Elgin, IA area with his family, where he attended country school. He has been a longtime member of Marion Lutheran Church, Gunder.
He was united in marriage of Grace Kjosa. A son was born to this union. They farmed in the St. Olaf area for many years retiring in 1975. Grace died March 22, 1974. For the past five years Clarence has resided in the Elkader Care Center. He died of congestive heart failure on Tuesday, Feb. 1, 1994 at University of Iowa Hospital, Iowa City.
He is survived by his son, Carroll and his wife, Eileen, Des Moines; two grandsons, Jack and Jason, also of Des Moines; a half-sister, Mae Longmuir, Elgin, IL. Besides his wife he was preceded in death by a brother, Mervin Anderson, a half-brother, George Anderson and a half-sister, Pearl, who died in infancy.
Funeral service was held Friday, Feb. 4, 1994, 11 a.m. at Marion Lutheran Church, Gunder. Officiating was Rev. Albert Hock. Organist Corrine Landsgard accompanied Clarence Amundson, soloist.
Casket bearers were Willis Ott, Don Wold, Valdean Lange, Gene Vigen, Franklin Wacker, Edward Boland.
Interment was in Marion Lutheran Cemetery, Gunder. Arrangements were by Leonard-Witt Funeral Home, Elkader.
