Services Held For Adolph Anderson, 82

Funeral services for Adolph Anderson, 82, who died last Wednesday, were held Saturday, March 15, from Muehlethaler-Wright Funeral Home in Elgin. Pastor Duane Berg, Highland Lutheran church, officiated. Pallbearers were Howard Hanson, Arnold Anderson, Norbert Anderson, Harold Kuntz, Rudy Possehl and Mervin Larson. Burial was at the Marion Lutheran church cemetery at Gunder.

Adolph Johannes Anderson, youngest son of Andrew and Anna Nelson Anderson, was born in Wagner township, Clayton county, on March 1, 1898. He was baptized at the Norway Lutheran church and was confirmed Dec. 10, 1911, at the Highland Lutheran church. His father died when Adolph was a boy almost three years old.

Adolph received his education at the Paige school in Highland township. He also took courses at Luther college, Decorah, and at Iowa State University, Ames.

While his mother was alive he lived with her. He never married.

On Feb. 22, 1980, Adolph slipped and fell while going to dinner at the Good Samaritan Home in West Union where he had been a resident for almost five years. His hip was broken. He was taken to Palmer Memorial hospital and later transferred back to the Good Samaritan Home where he died Wednesday, March 12, at the age of 82 years, 12 days

Adolph was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Nels, Benjamin and Johannes; two sisters, Bertha, Mrs. Clifton Powell, and Nellie, Mrs. Otto Hanson, and two nephews. He is survived by one sister, Mrs. Clara Brabham, a resident at the Community Hospital Extended Care, Elkader; nephews and nieces.
