Miner F. Harwood, 78, died late Monday afternoon at the Delaware county Memorial hospital in Manchester, following a brief illness.
Funeral services will be at (?) p.m. Thursday at the Gill funeral chapel, the Rev. Wayne L. Carlson conducting the service. Burial will be in the cemetery here.
He was born March 3, 1878, at Strawberry Point, the son of Newton and Helen Tuller Harwood. He was married Nov. 28, 1900, to Harriet Flower at Arlington. He was a graduate of the Western School of Pharmacy and worked as a druggist as a young man in Strawberry Point and was a banker most of his life. He served as president of the First National Bank here prior to his merger with the State Bank and was a member of the board of directors of the Union Bank and Trust Company at the time of his death.
He served as mayor of Strawberry Point for 24 years, April 1932 - 38 and April 1944 - 53 and years before that.
Survivors include his wife, Strawberry Point; a daughter, Helene, Mrs. Roy Agee, Newton. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister.
